The 1991 NCAA Division I Outdoor Track and Field Championships were contested May 29−June 1 at Hayward Field at the University of Oregon in Eugene, Oregon in order to determine the individual and team national champions of men's and women's collegiate Division I outdoor track and field events in the United States. These were the 69th annual men's championships and the 10th annual women's championships. This was the Ducks' seventh time hosting the event and the first since 1988. Tennessee and LSU topped the men's and women's team standings, respectively; it was the Volunteers' second men's team title (and first since 1971) and the fifth for the Lady Tigers. This would go on to be the fifth of LSU's eleven consecutive women's national championships in track and field between 1987 and 1997.

This is a list of the NCAA outdoor champions in the mile run until 1975, and the metric 1500 meters being contested in Olympic years starting in 1932. The 2020 NCAA Division I Outdoor Track and Field Championships was scheduled to be the 99th NCAA Division I Men's Outdoor Track and Field Championships and the 39th NCAA Division I Women's Outdoor Track and Field Championships held at Mike A. Myers Stadium in Austin, Texas on the campus of the University of Texas at Austin. In total, forty-two different men's and women's track and field events will be contested from Wednesday, June 10 to Saturday, June 13, 2020. On March 12, 2020, the event was cancelled by the NCAA due to the coronavirus pandemic.

NCAA Division II Women's Outdoor Track and Field Championships

The NCAA Division II Women's Outdoor Track and Field Championships are the annual collegiate track and field competitions for women athletes representing Division II institutions organised by the National Collegiate Athletic Association. Athletes' performances in individual championships earn points for their institutions and the team with the most points receives the NCAA team title in track and field. A separate NCAA Division II men's competition is also held. These two events are separate from the NCAA Division II Women's Indoor Track and Field Championships and NCAA Division II Men's Indoor Track and Field Championships held during the winter. The first edition of the championship was held in 1982. The current team champions are Lincoln (MO), and the most successful team, with 10 titles, are the Abilene Christian Wildcats.

The 1980 USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships took place between June 14-15 at Hilmer Lodge Stadium on the campus of Mt. San Antonio College in Walnut, California. The 20K racewalk was held April 20 in Redmond, Washington. The decathlon was held at Hayward Field, University of Oregon in Eugene, Oregon on June 22-23. This was the first time the meet was organized by the newly formed organization The Athletics Congress (TAC). In addition to being the National Championship, it was the selection meet to international teams including, in the women's 400 meters hurdles and 3000 meters, for the 1980 World Championships in Athletics.
