Analysis of the List of Global Pure MEMS OEM Manufacturers TSMC Is Among the Best

Last year, TSMC was the world's largest OEM of pure MEMS devices, with a sharp increase in operating revenue of 201%, which not only captured the market share of competitors, but also created a new source of revenue.

According to the MEMS competition analysis report of ihsisuppli, TSMC's related operating revenue reached US $53 million in 2011, much higher than US $17.6 million in 2010. The company produces a variety of best-selling MEMS sensors and actuators, including 3-axis gyroscopes, accelerometers, MEMS microphones, pressure sensors, on-chip laboratories and inkjet printheads.

Among the 12 pure OEM manufacturers providing MEMS manufacturing business, TSMC is among the best. In addition to TSMC, other contract manufacturers with MEMS revenue growth last year include silex Microsystems, teledynedalsa, innovative micro technology, x-fab, tronics, jazz semiconductor, semefab and global foundries. Asia Paci? Cmicrosystems, Micralyne and tmttouch microsystems are the manufacturers with declining operating revenue, as shown in Table 1.

Last year, the overall operating revenue of 12 pure MEMS OEM manufacturers and several other manufacturers was US $286 million, a sharp increase of 23% over US $231.8 million in 2010.

TSMC MEMS business growth mainly comes from its customer invensense, for which TSMC produces 3-axis gyroscopes and 6-axis inertial measurement units (Imus). These two MEMS devices are very important for mobile devices such as smartphones and tablets and games. Epson was initially invensense's largest supplier of 3-axis gyroscopes until it was impacted by Japan's March earthquake last year, which made TSMC take advantage of the opportunity to enter and take away Epson's market.

Another major growth point of TSMC MEMS business last year was adeno semiconductor (ADI). In particular, ADI received an order for MEMS microphone design in Apple's iPad 2 tablet, which benefited TSMC a lot.

For TSMC, the world's largest wafer foundry, the MEMS business still accounts for a negligible share of its overall operating revenue. However, TSMC is still particularly keen on the MEMS field, especially because the company has occupied a large share in the mainstream semiconductor OEM field. Therefore, its growth prospects are limited. We must constantly look for fast-growing fields such as MEMS in order to maintain the momentum of expansion. TSMC initially decided to engage in MEMS manufacturing in 2008.

Silex and teledynedalsa have also achieved good growth

Silex microsystems in Sweden was the second largest MEMS OEM in 2011, with an operating revenue of US $45.9 million, an increase of 28% over US $36 million in 2010. Its growth mainly comes from optical MEMS switches for optical fiber telecommunications applications.

This Swedish OEM has a broad user base and more than 60 customers. Its MEMS production contract covers the fields of scientific application, scanning mirror of micro projector, on-chip Laboratory for diagnosis, gyroscope for consumer products, pressure monitor for blood pressure monitoring, and MEMS drug delivery system of St. Jude Medical and debiotechs. A.

Silex also benefited from early bets on silicon via (TSV) technology. TSV is a high-performance process for forming 3D packaging and 3D integrated circuits. Silex was one of the first MEMS OEM manufacturers to invest heavily in this new process six years ago, and won many customers because of its visionary action. At present, about 50% of its valid contracts are related to TSV process.

Teledynedalsa of California ranked third, with MEMS operating revenue of US $37 million in 2011, an increase of 20% over US $30.9 million in 2010. Optical MEMS is also its main revenue source. Last year, the company began to provide wavelength selective switch reconfigurable optical add / drop multiplexer (wssroadm) to JDSU, a market leading manufacturer.

Micralyne of Canada used to produce wssroadm devices for JDSU OEM. The product is used to add, block, transmit or redirect modulated infrared and visible beams in optical fiber networks. The MEMS contract accounted for half of Micralyne's operating revenue. The loss of this customer led to a sharp decrease of 46% in MEMS operating revenue in 2011, from US $31.3 million in 2010 to US $16.8 million. Its ranking also fell from second in 2010 to sixth.

DALSA also achieved good results in the field of pressure sensors for automotive and medical applications last year, and rapidly expanded its on-chip laboratory market. In the next few years, the company will benefit from cooperation with various partners, including Sherbrooke University in Montreal, Canada, Quebec government and industrial partner IBM Canada. Its collaboration with IBM Canada will take place at a microelectronics innovation center, a well funded center that will help DALSA expand its expertise in 200mm wafers and TSV processes.

Other winners and losers

In addition to the above three manufacturers, MEMS OEM manufacturers with increased operating revenue in 2011 also ranked fifth in California innovative Micro Technology (IMT), seventh in Germany 7x fab, eighth in France tronics, 10th in California Jazz semiconductor, 11th in Britain semefab and 12th in California global foundries.

The operating revenue growth rate of these manufacturers is in the strong double digits, from 11% to 178%. Global foundries' revenue increased by 178%, ranking second only to TSMC.

Last year, the losers in this field were Asia Paci? C microsystems in Taiwan, which ranked fourth, MI? Cryne in sixth, and tmttouch microsystems in Taiwan, which ranked ninth.

In 2011, gyroscope was the main MEMS revenue source of pure MEMS OEM manufacturers, followed by accelerometers and pressure sensors. Last year, the largest MEMS application field was consumer and mobile, leading industrial and medical applications.

What Are Some Ways to Keep My Hair Really Healthy?
Use professional shampoo & conditioner. I know it may seem like a rip-off, however all the shampoos like Pantene, Garnier, etc. have a high alcohol content....since the normal pH of your hair is 4.5-5.5, things containing high amounts of alcohol throw your hair all out of whack and cause breakage, split-ends, fly-aways, etc. The reason these shampoos make your hair feel soft is because they contain high amounts of humectants, which are just a cover for how damaging they really are! Another tip is ALWAYS use a thermal protector while applying heat. Heat appliances cause tons of damage to your hair. Usually this is a cream/clear gel you apply before blow drying. Never use a flat iron on hair that is not completely dry!1. Split End Help. ( 10 Points) !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!?For sure you should get a trim and maybe even cut your hair as short as you are comfortable doing it. You should for no reason straighten or dye your hair. Look for some Garnier Fructis or Pantene shampoos and conditioner for curly hair so that it extra moisturizes it and helps the split ends repair themselves. I say from experience that ppl with curly hair have really bad split ends, which is why we have special stuff in our hair products. The split ends wont magically go away in like a month or a few weeks, but you will see improvement after a while. Oh, and for sure DO NOT PICK THEM OFF!! It will just make it worse. Every two months until your hair is healthy get a trim. just maybe half an inch or an inch will be just fine. Eventually your hair will go back to normal. Good luck with that!.2. Whats the best shampoo conditioner for cheap?clever or V05 are solid inexpensive ($a million) shampoos, yet whilst it is composed of conditioner i could bypass Tresemme ($6) it does an somewhat solid interest. i take advantage of salon shampoo because of the fact i am form of a hair snob, yet I nonetheless use the cheap conditioner. Pantene is undesirable on your hair (too plenty protein and reasons alot of greater build up on the hair) so i does not bypass there. desire this permits! My hair is oily, superb, and colour-taken care of if that helps you any!3. How can I get my curly hair to be nice like Taylor Swift?Haha i have the same hair long and curly..but not pretty curly! im completely obsessed with taylor and her hair so i did so playing with it and what you really NEED to get is the conair hot sticks!! they are these little flexible curlers and they are not very expensive and i would look like a frizz ball without them!! you can like get them at walmart. anyways what i do when iwear my hair curly is like i get up and get in the shower and wash it and condition it and this may sound weird but dont use a whole lot of conditioner just enough to get it done cause it will help your hair hold the curl the just get out and towel dry your hair till it is just damp and then put a curling mouse in it and frizz serum then finish blow drying it straight! and you know have the curlers on like when your gettin in the shower and then just make sure the little light is on meaning that they are hot enough and then seperate your hair into pretty small peices (if you have really thick hair then you might need to buy two sets cause they only have 14 in them and you use small sections) and then start from the botom of your hair and role it through your hair and pin it together youll see the instructions on how to pin them together and make sure you wrap it all the way to the top of your head and leave them for like 15 or 20 minutes while your finishin gettin ready and then use like a light hairspray about 5 minutes before you take them out then your done. i know this thing was really long but its not that hard lol!!!! hope i helped good luck!!!!!!!!
