Conventional lead acid batteries contain a liquid that is electrolyte. Which is a mixture of sulfuric acid and water. Under normal conditions a battery loses only water (in the form of vapor, hydrogen and oxygen), and only water should be replaced. During operation, water goes through chemical reaction and breaks down into hydrogen and oxygen gas. These gases evaporate from battery and with time water level drops. This way plates remain no longer covered with water. In order to keep the battery perform efficiently, it is important to top it up with distilled water. Check the water level regularly and add distilled water only when necessary.What is battery water?

Can I get any battery for my phone?

You can not just use any battery, it has to be specifically suited to a S3. Ebay or any phone shop will have one, the genuine Samsung one will be more expensive. I bought a compatible "gold" battery on ebay and it works fine. If it's not a battery problem try another charger and if that does not work you have a phone fault and will need to take it to a repair centre. An eBay seller may or may not take a battery back - each seller has their own terms and conditions that they publish on the site. A shop might be a better place to buy if you want to return it. The fuel gauge has a current shunt with an amplifier and measures the consumed current, measured current is then summed up with time and then it is compared with threshold value of battery capacity which is already programmed.There is also an another method called Impedance Tracking, in which the fuel gauge tries to measure the battery's impedance.For any battery there will be an specific impedance for each state of charge, by measuring that an estimate can be made regarding the amount of charge left. In addition to these fuel gauge also has a temperature sensor (The Third pin in your battery sends temperature of the battery to the sensor)to compensate for various temperature related effects.After all these calculations the status is reported to the main processor by means of bus and thats what you are seeing on your screen.Please correct me if i am wrong at any point. Why is it dangerous to lick a battery?

As others have said, touching your tongue on one end of any battery wo not do anything unless the battery is dirty or unless it is leaking fluid, which is corrosive and probably toxic. Even if you could touch both ends of a functioning, non-leaking battery to your tongue (let's say with a wire or two), it would not be dangerous unless it is a very high voltage battery; most batteries you buy retail are not high voltage. When I was growing up, touching your tongue on a 9V battery was standard procedure to tell if the battery was still good. If you felt nothing, it was bad; if you felt a tingling feeling, the battery was good; after a while you get pretty good at judging state of charge by the amount of tingling. Using a multi-meter is so much more accurate .Now, if by "licking" a battery you mean out right licking it like a lollipop, that's a whole other story (but then I have to ask, why?)Why is it dangerous to lick a battery?.
