# Another Battery Question!!?

KLIC -8000 is a Kodak made battery and you cannot replace it with something else

Find a good mechanic. Testing a gennie does not take that much at all

2. Since battery acid is obviously corrosive, how is it that the battery casing can stay intact?

that plastic will last 1000 yrs

3. What are "amps" in a battery?

Amps is the amount available sort of. Here is an over used but helpful analogy: think of it like a water hose you can have 2 hoses a fire hose, and a garden hose. if the water is comeing out at the same speed/force out of both hoses they have the same voltage 12units however because the fire hose is bigger it will have more volume 7 units, when the garden has only 4 units. As long as the water doesnt come out of the hose too fast(voltage high) you can still water delecate plants with a fire or garden hose. it just will get done faster with the fire hose(more water) As lond as your circuit board is designed to use in that range of power it will be fine odds are that it is. although it is possible to hurt if if it has too many amps but only 3 amp differnce it will make little differnce. if t was 10 or 20A difference id worry but not with 3

4. AA battery current

If you have your probes plugged into the 10A jack (and ground), then you can actually measure the dead-short capacity of your battery (several amps depending on the age, chemistry, and depletion of the cell). USE CAUTIONIf you have your probes plugged into the 10A jack and ground, then it is NOT VALID to try to read anything on the 200mA scale. A reading of "-1" is typically the indication of "OVERLOAD". NOT RECOMMENDEDIf you have your probes plugged in to the mA jack and ground, then your AA cell will likely blow the fuse unless the cell is nearly dead. NOT RECOMMENDED.Measuring the dead-short current capacity of your AA cell will kill it very quickly. It will also quite possibly cause extreme heating and is dangerous to your meter, and could even be hot enough to start a fire. NOT RECOMMENDED.

5. Battery wont stay charged up?

How old is the battery and did they 'load' test it?

6. VW Battery ??

The only thing special about a "dealer" battery is that it cost \$50 more than the one you can buy at walmart or autozone

7. Grounding for a battery

Is there a standard? Not a universal one writing... but by popularity positive grounds and coaxial center negative have faded fast in the last 2 decades, due to user error. Since ground only means a 0V reference, it does not matter locally, only when interacing. Zero Volts, 0V is always floating , unless connected to anything that is connected grid earth or PE, Protective Earth Gnd, which, coincidentally is also floating ;) in the Universe, but locally , it is our biggest common-mode 0V reference. Yet with trans-atlantic cables there can be a thousand volts difference. E.g. VGA monitors are PE grounded.Like all voltage sources, even 0V has impedance so ground shift voltage depends in V(f)=I(f)*Z(f). It has both differential mode impedance (Zdm) and common mode (Zcm). So floating means at DC high R but at some frequency that Z can drop low by conductor length/gap ratio due to inherent capacitance.Grid tower grounds need to be

8. Whats wrong with my motorcycle battery? ?

First, check to make sure your connections are secure. Are your guages, headlight, or any accessories turning on? If so, make sure your kill switch is not off. Second, take a multi-meter, set it to dc volts, and check the voltage on the battery and make sure it is where it is supposed to be. Also, makesure there are no wires coming out of the stator or voltage regulator. And lastly, carefully inspect your ground, fuses, and relays. You WILL find the problem whether its a bad battery or a short by following those steps.

9. Car battery explode!!!?

loose cable end creating spark. was the battery recently charged or jump started? when a battery is charging it releases a gas that is explosive, thats why they ALWAYS say, never ever take the cables of a battery from a charger without shutting off the charger. same goes for jumpstarting a car. ALWAYS put the negative cable to the motor some where. not wise to go straight to the terminals as when ou disconnect the cables a spark can occur and explosion can happen. If neither of those are it. You have a loose cable and your battery sparked at that cable when trying to start it (creating load and sparked) WHen you replace the battery, notice your (if you have one) charging gauge in the car. you could have a bad regulator that is not switching off and over charhing the battery when the car is running.
