Friday Night! with Ralph Benmergui was a Canadian television variety show, which aired on CBC Television from 1992 to 1993. The show initially aired at 10 p.m., following Prime Time News, but was moved to 11 p.m. in January 1993 and aired in the later time slot for the remainder of its run.

The show debuted October 30, 1992, and was hosted by Ralph Benmergui, formerly of Midday. The house band, called simply "The House" and including musicians such as Matt Zimbel, Doug Wilde and Taborah Johnson, provided the music in the first season; they were replaced in the second season by Look People, led by Jaymz Bee. It was one hour long and had an American late-night talk show format: an opening monologue by Benmergui followed by comedy sketches, guest interviews, and musical performances.

The show's primary goal was to highlight and promote emerging Canadian talent, although established celebrities also sometimes appeared. Notable guests on the show included Cline Dion, Leonard Cohen, Buffy Sainte-Marie, Barenaked Ladies and Don Cherry.

Although the show received strong ratings at first, with almost a million viewers for its premiere, it soon declined to less than half of its initial audience, representing only one-third of the audience that the CBC had in its timeslot the previous year. The critics were not impressed, either; one segment featured real TV scribes reviewing the program, mostly unfavourably, while it was still in progress.

The first season aired its final episode on April 2, 1993, and was then followed by two "best of" specials featuring musical performances from prior episodes. During the off-season, the show responded to its critical and audience reception by overhauling its production team; production was ultimately taken over by comedian and Yuk Yuk's founder Mark Breslin. Benmergui also refreshed his own personal style, adopting a hipper, more casual look instead of the loud patterned or shiny suits he had favoured in the first season, and the original house band were dropped and replaced by The Look People. The show also dropped Benmergui's opening monologue, instead using the opening slot to highlight a different stand-up comedian each week, and changed its format so that the show would centre on one feature interview each episode.

The second season premiered in October 1993, but Breslin's changes failed to improve the program's critical reception or ratings. The final episode of Friday Night! aired on December 31, 1993, and the program's cancellation was announced in the first week of January 1994.

Benmergui subsequently moved to CBC Newsworld, hosting the afternoon talk show Benmergui Live. The CBC subsequently developed another variety series, Rita and Friends, which began airing in the fall of 1994.

After moderate initial success, Holzapfel appeared on Shark Tank and was able to negotiate a deal with fashion brand icon Daymond John.

After partnering with John, Mission Belt sales increased by over $1 million within three weeks of the show airing which enabled Holzapfel to expand sales and entrepreneurship past his initial venture. As of early 2017, Mission Belt Co. has brought in $25 million in revenue. Mission Belt has been listed as one of John's top 5 deals on Shark Tank.

ControversyLawsuit over Holzapfel's Wrongful Use of Mock Interview with Larry King

The suit, filed in federal court in California, alleges that Holzapfel "used false pretenses to obtain Larry King's participation in a mock interview, then infringed Plaintiffs' common law trademarks and rights of publicity to make it appear that Larry King endorsed Defendants' commercial activities when, in fact, he has not done so."

According to the complaint, King agreed to do the mock interview, conducted in 2013, "as a favor to a family member." The suit goes on to say that King agreed to provide Holzapfel with a copy of the interview, "for the limited and sole purpose of using excerpts from it in a 'sizzle reel' that Holzapfel could privately submit to a few television producers and others, in the hopes that those producers would hire Holzapfel for a television program. Holzapfel agreed to use the recorded Mock Interview only for that limited purpose."

The complaint adds that it was made to seem that Holzapfel had appeared on "Larry King Now," when in fact he did not. Alleging trademark infringement, unfair competition and other counts, the suit seeks unspecified damages.

In March 2019 the Blast reported that Larry King won a default judgment for $250,000 against Holzapfel. Additionally, Holzapfel was ordered to pay $8,600 to cover Larry King's legal fees. In addition to the money, the judge ordered Holzapfel to cease using Kings name and likeness and destroy any materials he made featuring King.

The typical RT One schedule is aimed at an adult audience, the 18-49 demographic, with daytime covering GA, PS and YA programmes. GA either being shows such as reality shows which may be of no interest to children or reality shows such as Dr. Phil, which may also receive a PS rating for adult-themed content. The soaps Home and Away, which is aired fully uncut, Neighbours, EastEnders, New Zealand soap Shortland Street, and RT One soap Fair City, they all receive GA, PS and YA ratings, the rest of daytime is made up of drama series and sitcoms and films at the weekend. Programmes and films with an MA rating can only be aired after the watershed (9.00pm), with the exception of several episodes of Home and Away, which has received this rating before, and sitcoms such as Grounded for Life, which has also received this rating in some episodes before 9.00pm. RT News and Current Affairs programmes don't receive a classification.

RT Two's schedule is made up of children's, teenagers and adult programming. On weekday mornings, the children's programming blocks RTjr (pre-school children) and TRT (teenage show which are suitable for children's viewing) usually airs between 6.45am and 5.35pm. Weekday evenings at 5.35pm the teen/adult programming block, Two Tube begins with Neighbours, The Simpsons and Home and Away, the shows on Two Tube are aimed at the 15-24 demographic. 7.00pm-9.00pm and after 9pm are aimed at an adult audience and would air programmes and films with all classifications. On weekends, the children's programming blocks usually air from 6.45am to 11.45am, from 11.45am the schedule returns to normal programming aimed at an adult audience beginning with the re-run episodes of the week's Home and Away and the rest of the day and night's programming made up of drama series, sitcoms and films, apart from a children's/family film which could be shown both Saturday and Sunday during the day, and The Sunday Game which is shown on Sunday afternoons. Apart from the children's programming blocks, the rest of RT Two's programming, including the programmes on Two Tube runs much like RT One's schedule.

During Holidays such as Christmas, Easter, Halloween or the summer holidays, children's or family films air during the day on both RT One and RT Two.

After the success of "Malice in Wonderland," a 1959 episode of the Omnibus television series based on S.J. Perelman's New Yorker humor pieces, Perelman began developing a similar project for the stage. The show consisted of satirical sketches loosely themed around what Perelman saw as "the widespread yearning for creativity" among untalented members of the American public; he pointed to an incident wherein an elevator operator told him "I'm having trouble with my second act."

In the summer of 1961, The Beauty Part had a pre-Broadway tryout at the Bucks County Playhouse in New Hope, Pennsylvania. The production starred Bert Lahr, who played five roles over the course of the evening: a scheming Hollywood producer, a lecherous garbage-disposal magnate, an enfeebled millionaire, a fame-hungry judge, and a female editor of erotica. Perelman did "at least" 10 rewrites of the script before a heavily altered version of the play opened on Broadway on December 26, 1962 at the Music Box Theatre, with a cast that included Lahr, Alice Ghostley, Charlotte Rae, and Larry Hagman.

The Beauty Part opened during the 19621963 New York City newspaper strike, meaning that very few reviews appeared and the play could not be advertised in print. Producer Michael Ellis attempted to promote the show via skywriting and fliers distributed in cigar stores, but his efforts were unsuccessful and the show closed on March 9, 1963 after 85 performances. Lahr and Ghostley were both nominated for Tony Awards for their performances. In subsequent years, the play's commercial failure has been attributed to high production costs, mismanagement, and the fact that Perelman's dialogue, "steeped in syntactical invention and idiomatic Yiddish," may have been more suited to the page. In 1992, The New York Times observed that "few flops have been as celebrated, mulled over and positively entitled to cult status as The Beauty Part.

Perelman hoped that Peter Sellers would star in a film adaptation of The Beauty Part and met with him in the summer of 1963 to discuss the project, but the film was never made. A 1974 Off-Broadway revival starred Joseph Bova in Lahr's five roles, and a 1992 revival at the Yale Repertory Theatre featured MacIntyre Dixon in four of Lahr's roles.

HDFC Bank 2.0: From Dawn to DigitalBandyopadhyay's second book, Sahara: The Untold Story, details the beginnings and the current day working of the secretive Sahara India Parivar. In December 2013, the Sahara India Pariwar, moved Calcutta High Court, got a stay on the publication of the book and filed a Rs 2 billion defamation suit against the author and its publisher, Jaico Publishing House. In April 2014, the parties reached an out of court settlement, following which the book carries a disclaimer by Sahara which says, among other things, the book has "defamatory content".
