check torsion bar mounts at the frame end (near the midddle of vehicle) by trying 2 move them w/ a prybar. they had a tendancy 2 go bad in older blazers. u can wedge a piece of 2x4 inside the frame rail above the torsion bar bracket and road test 2 c if noise goes away. if it does, replace mounts good luck

It is not generally considered a hybrid but even the term hybrid is an odd one. It is a term used now to suggest something new and somehow better. It is commonly used with plants to sell us hybrids that hopefully have combined the best attributes of two different parents. Because it is used with plants it suggests something "green." When it comes to automobiles it was used with vehicles like the Prius. The prius has an internal combustion engine that produces mechanical rotating power from gasoline. It also has an electric motor that produces mechanical power from electricity. These are combined and produce a parallel hybrid, a configuration of hybrid where both sources feed the drive individually or together in parallel. But many years ago the gasoline engine was far simpler. You even had to crank it to get it started. When someone added an electric motor and a battery to start the engine should not this be considered an hybrid of an electric system with an mechanical engine? I think so, but again we do not refer to it that way. Why? Because language and words within it are not just a bunch of definitions in a dictionary. We call these denotative meanings of words. Words can also have connotative meanings. We can speak of a dark haired man with a well balanced face but to say "the sexy or handsome man" invokes something more than just meanings. It suggests connections and even a possibility to satisfy desires or receive approval. Use of words and how to convince people is a study called rhetoric. A more modern and goal directed equivalent is "marketing." At the beginning of the car age there were more electric cars than internal combustion engine cars. To market an automatic starter for their car they only had to compare it to an already very popular vehicle: the electric car. So they called it an "electric" starter. But today's market is different. Electric cars were reintroduced before hybrids existed. Automakers wanted them to be forgotten, for whatever reason, so most were recalled and crushed. When it came to the hybrid configuration, they were not about to market them as vehicles with electric assist engines. That would just call attention to the electric cars that were just crushed. Some might just say if a little electric is a good thing why is not a lot of electric even better. But then what do you call a car with no mechanical motor that gets power from a fuel cell to dirve a (shush...) electric motor. You can not call it a hybrid because explainations of hybrids were already talking about the electric system in a hybrid so you call it a fuel cell vehicle as if the fuel cell is magically driving the car without any (...) electric motor. Some early "explanations of how a fuel cell vehicle works bent over backwards to not mention the electric motor and to explain away the void with references to a "fuel cell engine." Insight can sometimes be gained from "reverse engineering" marketing terms, a little logic, and an understanding of what is not being said. Is a bicycle that also has an electric or gasoline motor a hybrid? I think so. An electric vehicle that attaches a trailer that has a generator on it certainly is a sometimes series hybrid if the generator feeds electricity to the engine and batteries. The same might be true if we attached a trailer of solar panels or even if we attached a trailer that has fuel cells on it. The only thing a fuel cell vehicle is lacking is any storage capacity for the electricity produced. As an aside there would also therefore not be any place to store regenerative braking energy. Perhaps this is enough because they are then not independent sources of power but a synthesis where each component requires the other. Neither a fuel cell nor an electric motor is going to drive a car on it's own. If you add some batteries you might have a series hybrid even though you had only one engine you could then have at least 2 fuel sources.
